The nursing department of Surry Community College was recognized on Monday, January 11, 2010 by its Board of Trustees for the positive strides being made in that program.
The recent implementation of a simulation program, supported through a grant from The Golden Leaf Foundation, has bolstered the education efforts for nursing students at the college and has provided them an opportunity to practice real-life skills in a lab setting prior to caring for patients in the hospital.
This simulation program is part of the improvement efforts of the department, which have resulted in the NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination) passage score of 94.4% for the 2009 graduates of the Associate Degree Nursing program.
