From Surry Community College classroom seat to Originally from Yadkinville, Mr. Darrell McCormick attended Surry Community College as a full-time student from 1980 to 1982. He studied banking and economics from the influence of an SCC business instructor at the time, Dr. Hutchens. His classes from SCC transferred to Appalachian State University, where he continued his studies in Banking Economics. Mr. McCormick worked in the real estate industry for several years, then relocated to South Carolina to run a large, organic herb farm, and manufacturing and commercial greenhouses. After fifteen years, he moved back to North Carolina and returned to Appalachian State University where he obtained his Bachelor's degree in 1995. "My experience at SCC was wonderful, and I met some of the best friends and people I have ever known anywhere, and who I continue to see and work with on a regular basis," states McCormick. "It's all about the relationships I had built there." Mr. McCormick is now a local business owner in commercial real estate in Winston-Salem, and has just been elected as North Carolina's General Assembly Representative for the 92nd House District representing Surry, Yadkin and Iredell counties. |
