From one of SCC’s first full-time students to over 40 years of service.

Susan Johnson was among some of the first full-time students to graduate from Surry Community College in 1968. She obtained an Associate’s in Applied Science. The day after graduation, Susan started as the Administrative Assistant to the President here at SCC, and has worked with all five of Surry’s president as well as over 59 individuals who have served on the Board of Trustees. Ms. Johnson will be retiring in December 2008 after forty years of her dedicated service. Ms. Johnson has been a member and an officer of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges and, most recently, was the recipient of the 2008 “Administrative Assistant of the Year” award from the Mount Airy, NC Chamber of Commerce for her outstanding qualities including her commitment and enthusiasm for her work at the college.
