What are telecourses?
A Telecourse includes pre-produced lectures on television, a textbook, and a detailed student study guide. The televised programs are available for taping on UNC TV or Time Warner Cable of Dobson. Additionally, these courses may also include handouts, supplemental readings, projects, research assignments, journals, and email discussions. You must have a VCR, television and be able to receive UNC TV and/or Time Warner Cable of Dobson. Telecourses are listed on the schedule with a section code of "TC".

In order to receive these courses, you must subscribe to Time Warner Cable in Surry or Yadkin counties or be able to receive UNC TV. Videotapes may also be viewed in the Learning Center on the SCC campus.

Students taking telecourses are required to attend a student orientation at SCC. Check out the orientation schedule for more information.

Videotape Rental Option
Students may rent a full set of tapes for each telecourse from RMI Media, Inc., a private company, for a set fee (usually $65.50). The student receives all the tapes at the beginning of the semester and mails them back at the end of the course. This is a private transaction between the student and RMI. Visit www.rmimedia.com or call 1-800-745-5480 to rent tapes. You will need to give the name and title of your course (e.g. PSY 150, Discovering Psychology), your name and address, a daytime phone number, and credit card information.
