Mission Statement

The purpose of Surry Community College Television Station (SCC-TV) is to provide educational and informational programming of interest to Surry Community College's service area of Surry, Yadkin, part of Stokes, and part of Carroll (VA) counties.

Therefore, the priorities for the use of broadcast time shall be as follows:

  1. Telecourses and other programs providing educational content for curriculum and/or continuing education students.
  2. Information about the college, its purpose, its programs and its events.
  3. Programs of informational and educational nature which are of interest to the service area or which make use of the expertise of the college's personnel.
  4. Feature stories which spotlight events, achievements, awards, etc. involving students, faculty, staff, trustees, alumni, or other people connected to the college.

No programs of a political nature will be broadcast. Religious programs will be restricted to those of an informational nature, with balanced coverage, which does not support or attack a particular religion or belief.

Any challenges to these guidelines will be resolved by a decision of the Television Advisory Committee, which is appointed by the President of Surry Community College.
