An Internet course is accessed via the Internet from home, office, or campus. The courses include instructor notes, textbooks, hotlinks, remote access to student services as well as the Learning Resource Center. Surry Community College will provide a free web based email account for communication with your Instructor.
Hybrid courses combine traditional classroom instruction with the interactivity of an Internet course. Like Internet courses, Hybrid courses are accessed via the Internet from home, office, or campus. The courses include face-to-face instruction, course websites, textbooks, hotlinks, online and in-class discussions, collaboration and problem-solving. Surry Community College will provide a free web based email account for communication with your Instructor.
Thanks to Governor Mike Easley and the North Carolina General Assembly, North Carolina High School students in grades 9-12 can earn college credits through a special Learn & Earn Online initiative beginning in the 2008-2009 school year. Registration for these courses follows Surry's schedule. Check with your high school guidance counselor if you are interested – even if your school’s formal course registration deadline has passed.
Qualified students in participating high schools can take a variety of online college credit courses at no cost to them or to their families. Students can earn both high school and college credit for completed courses. Access to these courses is provided during the regular school day and an online course facilitator will assist students in the classroom.
This is an interactive video conferencing course which enables students to come together from multiple locations with instructors for face-to-face instruction, discussion, collaboration, and problem-solving. The video-conferencing classroom at SCC is equipped with two-way audio and video equipment that permit all students to participate fully in the class, regardless of location. All necessary technologies are available in the classroom.
