New Student Registration
  1. Complete an Online Application for Admission

Applications are also available in the Student Development on the SCC campus.

Submit the following to the SCC Student Services Office:

  2. Have Official Transcripts sent

Transcript Request Form - Print the online form and mail to school attended.  Have official transcripts from high school and any previously attended colleges sent to SCC Admissions Office.  GED graduates should have copies of their scores sent to the SCC Admissions Office.

  3. Placement Testing

The Computerized Placement Tests (CPTs) were developed by the College Board to provide information about your level of skill in reading, English, and mathematics that is required for success in college. By assessing your ability in these areas, the CPT or Accuplacer can help to determine the reading, English and mathematics courses most appropriate for you at this time.

  4. Course Scheduling or Pre-registration

Talk with counselor or advisor to register for your classes.

  5. Complete Moodle Orientation

This Moodle orientation should take less than 30 minutes, depending on your technical skills.  At the end of the orientation, you will send an email to online@student.surry.edu.  This ensures that SCC staff knows you attended the required orientation session.  If you have questions contact Distance Education Office at (336) 386-3420.

  6. Apply For Financial Aid (if desired)

Financial Aid, Scholarship and VA application forms are available onlineApply early!  Many financial aid programs have deadlines.

  7. Register for Classes and Pay Tuition Fees

The SCC Catalog contains a listing of all courses offered.  The catalog is available online or students may purchase a hard copy through the online bookstore.  For information regarding completing a degree online and Distance Education courses (Internet, Hybrid, and NC Information Highway) contact your advisor.

When you have completed registration for your classes, you may pay your fees online through Knight Life, set up payments through E-cashier, or by contacting the Business Office on campus.

Note: Students who have a disability requiring special accommodations must notify the Disabilities Service Coordinator 60 days before registering for a Distance Education course.
