Surry Degrees
A transfer degree allows you to take the first two years of general education credits toward a four-year degree at a fraction of the cost of residential colleges and universities. Surry Community College credits are transferable to the University of North Carolina System's 16 universities and many private four-year colleges, including Gardner-Webb and Lees-McRae.
By taking 65 credit hours, you can earn your Associate's Degree. How do the 65 credit hours break down?
- Forty-four hours of general education
- Twenty pre-major or elective hours
- One required credit hour for ACA 122: College Transfer Success
A transfer student from Surry Community College, or any North Carolina community college, enjoys special protections under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA). All transfer students who earn an associate's degree will transfer with junior status. The CAA prohibits universities from placing requirements on transfer students that are not also required of their institution's students. In short, the CAA paves the way for a seamless transition and timely completion of a bachelor's degree.
