Medical Office Admin. Students Prepare for the Workplace
Dobson, NC – April 26, 2012. Twenty-five students who will be graduating from the Surry Community College Medical Office Administration/Office Administration program in May gathered at Sage Brush in Mount Airy to hone their job seeking skills. The evening featured professionals who advised students about job search, interview techniques, employer priorities, and appropriate interview and workplace attire. They included Pat Younger, Volunteer Services, Mountain Valley Hospice; Kacy Norris, Patient Coordinator, Wake Forest Health Services and SCC graduate; Melonie Weathers, Human Resources, Surry Community College; Mildred Gillespie, BeautiControl; and Kendra Wise, Instructional Assistant, SCC.
The MOA/OA Professional Evening was planned by SCC instructors Hilda Hall, Business Technologies Division Chair; Mitzi Poore, and Sherry Blackmon. The medical office administration program prepares individuals for employment in medical/health-care related offices. The office administration program focuses on administrative support careers and equips the office professionals for the demands of a dynamic computerized workplace. Graduates are qualified for employment in business, government and industry. Surry now has a student club for Medical and Administrative Office Professionals (MAOP) which supports students during their course of study.
