Blood Drive To Be Held Feb. 19 at Surry Community College
Dobson, NC – A Blood Drive hosted by the Paralegal Club will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 19, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Gymnasium at Surry Community College, Dobson.
The club hopes to collect 50 pints through the daylong drive. Complimentary food and drinks will be provided to participants. Donors will also receive a free T-shirt and will be entered to win a $1,500 gift card, which is being given away as part of the American Red Cross Southeast Blood Services Division “Give and Go” campaign. The Surry Community College Paralegal Club is comprised of students enrolled in the Paralegal Technology curriculum. The Paralegal Club conducts fund-raising activities, which allow members to further their education as paralegal students and to give back to the community. The club is preparing to celebrate its 20th year of existence, and Paralegal Instructor Wilborn Rives is the faculty advisor.
The Paralegal Technology curriculum at SCC prepares individuals to work under the supervision of attorneys by performing routine legal tasks and assisting with substantive legal work in probate work; investigations; public records search; drafting and filing legal documents; research; and office management. Course work includes substantive and procedural legal knowledge in the areas of civil litigation, legal research and writing, real estate, family law, wills, estates, trusts and commercial law. Employment opportunities are available in private law firms, governmental agencies, banks, insurance agencies, and other business organizations.
