Apply for Financial Aid
Students should:
- Apply for admission to Surry Community College. This application is available electronically from the Apply to SCC quick link on the home page or in person in the Student Development Office.
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) available at www.fafsa.gov. If you do not have internet access, please contact the Financial Aid Office to inquire about other options. Students must specify in the appropriate section that they will be attending Surry Community College. SCC's Title IV school code is 002970. Students completing the FAFSA before March 15 may be considered for the North Carolina Student Incentive Grant. After completing the FAFSA, students will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) from the Federal Processing Center.
To receive notification of eligibility, a student must have a completed aid application file on record in the Financial Aid Office by the following deadline dates:
Fall Semester: May 1
Spring Semester: October 1
Summer Semester: February 1
Students with incomplete files will be required to use personal funds or apply for tuition assistance through the FACTS deferred payment plan. Subsequent eligibility may allow for reimbursement after the semester begins.
Please be aware that one in three applications is selected by the Federal Processing Center for a process called Verification. If this occurs, the Financial Aid Office is required to request additional documentation in order to verify the information provided on your FAFSA application. You will receive an email detailing the items that are needed. Please access requested Verification Forms listed below or from the Forms link on the left hand side of the page.

Request for IRS Tax Transcripts
Effective for the 2012-2013 academic school year, the Department of Education established several new regulations for federal student assistance.
The financial aid office at Surry Community College (SCC) will no longer accept copies of student or parent(s) federal tax returns. The new regulation requires schools to accept the IRS Tax Transcripts. Upon request, the IRS provides tax filers with transcripts of their federal income tax returns. There are several ways tax filers can request a tax transcript, most of which do not involve any cost to the student or parent. Please review the chart below:
