Notary Public
Qualifications to make application to be a Notary Public in North Carolina:
- Live or work for a company in North Carolina
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have earned a high school diploma or GED
- Be able to read and write in English
- Have no felony convictions
- Have a valid picture ID
- Successfully complete a notary public education course
Upon successful completion of the notary course, the student will receive an application to submit to the NC Secretary of State’s notary public office. The application must have the application fee (currently $50.00) enclosed. The notary applicant should then receive a document from the NC Secretary of State’s notary public office which the notary applicant will take to a Register of Deeds office to have recorded. The notary will then be able to order their notary seal/stamp and related materials.
