Requirements

The following four steps will guide you to submit a proper Application for Admissions to Surry Community College. We are happy you are considering attending.

  1. Complete an Application for Admissions form. You can complete this application online or print a hard copy. Forms are also available in the Student Development office on the main campus in Dobson, the Yadkin Center in Yadkinville, the Center for Public Safety in Mt. Airy, The Elkin Center in Elkin, or The Pilot Center in Pilot Mountain, NC. Hard-copy applications can be mailed, faxed, or hand-delivered to the Admissions Office, located in the "A" building on the main campus in Dobson.
  2. All students seeking a degree, diploma, or certificate must submit official transcripts from their high school, and any previously attended college. Students who have earned a GED and Adult High School Diploma must provide copies of their scores. Home School graduates must provide proof of the school's registration with the respective state's department of education. All transcripts, scores and registration copies need to be turned in to the Admissions Office, located in the "A" building on the main campus in Dobson.
  3. All students seeking a degree, diploma, or certificate must take the College Placement Test. This test helps to determine English and math placement by testing reading, writing, and math abilities. Non-degree seeking students wishing to enroll in a course with an English and/or math prerequisite must also complete the placement test.
  4. Once the placement test has been completed, students will be assigned a Faculty Academic Advisor. This advisor will help you plan and schedule courses to compete an academic program of study.
