Attention New Students!
There are certain steps that are required before you can register for curriculum classes - sometimes taking 2-3 months of planning time. SCC wants to make this process easy and seamless for you! Follow the 4-step process below to avoid surprises and avoid disappointment when trying to register.
STEP ONE
Complete an Application for Admissions. It is recommended that you submit your application at least 30 days before you register for classes.
STEP TWO
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Every student should submit this application to see if they qualify for federal aid, including loans. When asked for your school's code, the code for Surry Community College is 002970.
Note: Financial Aid application deadlines are October 1st for Spring Semester, February 1st for Summer Semester, and May 1st for Fall Semester.
STEP THREE
Request official transcripts from your high school or obtain GED scores. If applicable, submit official transcripts from any other colleges you attended if you would like these credits evaluated for transfer to SCC. Proof of your high school diploma or GED is required before you can officially begin a program of study. Sometimes this takes a few weeks, so make the contacts now to allow the school or agency enough time to get them to you.
STEP FOUR
Take the Surry Community College placement test. The placement test may be waived if qualifying SAT or ACT scores or transferable college level English and math classes are submitted. However, placement test scores are required for all Nursing applicants.
